Our vision at Blessed Organic Release (BOR) is Nilotica Shea is the organic green gold of Acholi, our livelihood, transforming lives of producers and consumers alike.
Our Mission
We, at BOR, collect Shea nuts and process them into Premium Grad A Organic Nilotica Shea Butter that gives users soft, even, beautiful skin and an amazing complexion; while skilling and enabling our strategic partners, thousands of disadvantaged women and youth in Acholi, to earn a living.
Our Strategy
We insist on organic production. It is a blessed method which protects the health of the soil, the insects, animals and people.
A strong link in our value chain are the thousands of women and youth who are our Shea collectors. We invest in them through life skills, conscious awakening and empowering training so that they stop thinking “we need” and realize that which they actually have available to them, our green gold of Acholi, Nilotica Shea, which we should protect as an important livelihood option.
Our Inspiration
“In 2004, I took note of an ‘international investor’ who was buying Shea butter and Shea kernels from local collectors, mostly impoverished rural women in my home area in Acholi. I noted the ‘investor’ was not offering collectors fair trade terms. I took the initiative to learn more about Shea butter and recongnized it to be a high-quality product. I invested in getting knowledge about the Shea butter value chain, including taking a training course with America Shea Butter Institute. I used my new learning and knowledge to successfully bring an honest and charitable approach to the Shea butter market, delivering Premium Grade A Organic Nilotica Shea Products. While ensuring the strongest link in the Lalida Shea value chain, the collectors, are paid fair.” Ms. Margaret Laloyo
